That question might be a little premature (it depends on Ubuntu's LTS release). We've been teased with 5.1 for a while but no firm date on that either, if ever.

If I may make one suggestion: perhaps you could spin the 32-bit iso with the latest 4.15.x kernel. Reason: better support for very old hardware....

I always have this concern with interim (not LTS) releases: I'm not experiencing any issues, should I update the kernel?

The kernel generally isn't a high-risk package; it's usually an acceptable risk to run your system on an outdated kernel with known unfixed security issues. The high-risk stuff are things like your web browser and such.

However, if you want to update your kernel, simply install this meta package that ensures you'll always be offered the latest kernel in the updates:

The original question was about a Bodhi linux 6.0 release. That will based upon ubuntu 20.04 due to be released on April 23, 2020 as far as I can tell. I know April is getting close and as a result I have been playing around with making ISOs out of more current Ubuntu versions. While I have succeeded there are some significant issues such as BodhiBuilder, the tool we use to make our, does not work with the current gtk stuff. As a result I have had to spend some time investigating this issue and modifying BodhiBuilder. I am not 100% satisfied with what I have so far. But it works as far as I can tell and I am able to make usable ISOs with my modifications.

But I have alot planned for changes in Bodhi in this release and most of this work has not been started yet. So I am hesitant to give even an approximate date for the release of Bodhi 6.0. The best I would hope for would be June or latter. By March however I expect to have some workable ISOs based upon Ubuntu 20.04. But these ISOs will likely be using the same version of Moksha as BL 5.x, but a more up to date EFL.

Ok, above I said 2 64 bit ISOs. Two because I am trying something different. One will be our standard release based upon kernel version 4.18.0-18-generic. And the second will be based on the hardware enablement stack (hwe) and feature kernel version 5.3.0-28-generic.

I will only have one 64 bit hwe release and no app pack version. Naturally I will have the usual 64 bit and apppack version based upon the kernel 4.18.0-18. All releases will feature EFL version 1.22.6 unless I find some significant issue with said EFL version.

For beta ISO release I am only planning 64 bit releases. But certainly when I get to a 32 bit version I had planned on using a 4.x kernel. I haven't researched which specific version yet, but yes 4.15.x sounds good to me now :)

Kernel versions and efl versions already covered above. The default web browser will most likely be epiphany, epad will be replaced with leafpad. Synaptic package manager will be installed by default and unless I am talked out of it gdebi will be removed. The release will feature Stefans new work on the MokshaArcGreen theme and naturally that theme will be the theme used by default. This theme includes both a gtk theme and icons.

i installed 5.0 and synaptic worked gret. Now i cannotopen or access synaptic since i did ac update. I remeber seeing a thread here a whoile ago but i cannot find it to fix my problem. any help would be great. i was afraid i would have issues by redoing my working system with another distribution. thanks in advance.

ok i installed in terminal sudo apt-get install policykit-1-gnome and then added to startup but still nothing. anyclues as to how to get this working?

Yet I think that GDebi is a very useful tool for installing stand-alone .deb packages. I always install it as a matter of course in all Debian based distro's that I install (along with Synaptic). As it's only a small package, perhaps it might remain part of the default installation?

any word on whether or not eepdater or some other method of system updates (i don't mind using the terminal. mostly just curious) will be included?
