used to be a pro - until my arthritis crippled me.... on macs used digital performer for all recording mixing and mastering etc. used some windows garbage before that.
p.s. knew stefan plays guitar and a few others do music stuff so i figured - post it. |
Oh - nowadays the only thing i play is a nice bottle of pinot or wine from the vineyard, a nice porter or ale i make, or on a rare day when cold a sip or two of some woodford reserve. i also may play (work) on the small homestead here - vineyard - garden, cut firewood, and tractor work and planting hundreds of evergreen trees.
as a special ops gy said when i trained his dog - you have a super amazing 'compound'. heh heh heh |
Thanks for the post. I did quite a bit of music with Linux when I first started using Linux. Interesting that I landed on ZynAddSubFX at the time and that appears to still be the most popular - not surprising as it did produce excellent results and plugged into LMMS nicely (the sequencer I used). I have also used Rosegarden for classical scoring which works pretty well too. Was brought up on Atari STEs with the built-in MIDI ports (and RCA stereo jacks for audio out) and C-Lab Notator and Cubase Score.
I was literally planning to get back into writing music in Linux over the weekend, having posted a few compositions onto YouTube several years ago and nothing since. Back then I was using an old Dell laptop from work, which struggled a bit. Now I have a much more powerful machine, I want to start the music up again and see how it goes! |
cool - maybe this will expand some sounds for you.

I'm still looking for the MIDI ports on my mandolin.

i haven't read the whole thing, but there should be something in the arch wiki about that.

Samsonite2010: can you share your music from the YT? I would love to listen. BTW, hemlocktree is right I play the guitar little bit, but used to be very active in Commodore 64 8bit demo scene until 2010. Making chip tunes was my real hobby and it was fun :) I have also many tunes on YT but hard to say if you are interested. This kind of music is not for everyone. My wife hates it ;)

Maybe privately, this forum is too Linux based. I have good reputation in Bodhi community. What if I make some shame with my music? lmao :)
