OK, I will look later, thx

Good read but not for the paranoid...
|
Wow! What can I say? Get the tin foil hats out!
Like all paranoids/conspiracy nuts some of what he says actually almost makes sense, so you start to doubt your own common sense an wonder if its all true. Take with a LARGE pinch of salt. P.S. Maybe he's just to tight fisted to pay for a mobile and so gets others to pay and uses their phones! |
i do not know him personally and not defending him - but he has done a LOT for free software and GNU/linux. he is considered by many a genius; though eccentric in many ways. he does state stuff that is proven if you look into a lot of this. he also was awarded a MacArthur grant which is a rare thing - which no one on here probably had gotten that comes with a million $ i believe to to do what you want re: your stuff for the year. i have been told certain stuff by people in the know back in 1971 that is a reality today and has been for quite a while - even decades that people do not know or realize or think is even possible today. so ------ i saw the article and figured I'd post the link here for what it is worth.
by the way aluminum doesn't work..... heh heh heh |
OK, I have read.
Yes, Stallman knows what he is talking about. We should be aware of these risks because one day we will get up in the morning and ... |
Excellent article thank you!

1) You don't even have privacy when getting your rocks off. 2) You can just imagine the problem if someone hacked into it; your partner is having the wildest orgasm imaginable and then goes to thank you for the "experience" after the fact, only to be told "Hey?! but that wasn't me "controlling it" !! Someone's hacked it, and done a better job than I could!! ... I lost control of it!!! ... Who was it then??! Donno, some hacker on the Internet darling" :jawa: That relationship might be over, particularly if their partner found the hacker... 3) The company knows that you/your partner has just had the orgasm of their life! If that isn't invading someone's privacy, tell me what is... |
I found it terrifying. Mind you, I don't have a mobile phone either and for precisely that reason. And I don't need to ask other people to make calls for me either, because I can always make the call from my land-line telephone when I get home. Why do people find it necessary to make telephone calls in the street?
A friend of mine uses her iPhone quite often to find out what distance she has covered while walking, and I have pointed out to her that she is giving Apple permission to track her every move but it doesn't seem to worry her. I have no understanding of that mentality. However Stallman is wrong if he thinks that not being on Facebook means Facebook can't track him. Like everyone else in the world now, he has a "shadow profile" consisting of information about him gleaned from other people's online activity. And that to me is the most terrifying thing. You don't need a smart phone. You don't need to use Uber or Kindle. You don't need to buy Internet-enabled gadgets. But even if you avoid all those things, they'll still know what you're up to from what other people know. |
the last 3 weeks i had someone flying a freaking drone over my while working in the vineyard and also cutting firewood. with all the trees around i never had to worry about going back into the house - take the boots off - to pee. now jesus - i have to look above me. all of this crazy sh!t these days is absolutely disgusting - the older i get the more of a luddite i have become.
i know i know - a little too much information ----- but you get what i mean. |

Wife and I were just talking about that the other day - if we had property in the country and a drone was flying over us, I'd shoot it out of the sky. Pretty sure that's trespassing but I don't know your situation. Sorry, that was pretty off topic... |
i have a tiny homestead at the edge of the city/county line - but shooting in my scene other than a pellet gun could bring trouble. i worked with many cops as a k-9 trainer and some are just looking to bust people for anything and nothing. and some are legit and honorable. the city has encroached into my space badly over the last 10 years or so. just too old and too poor and have done so much plus have 2 vineyards here that to start over would be stupid. if i could do it all over again i would have gone to alaska or northern NY, VT or maine or ontario in canada which i love. but stuck between a rock and a rock.

p.s. i planted hundreds of evergreens over 25 yrs and one of the special ops guys from the military calls it my compound!!! heh heh
