A Bodhi 6.1 Enlightenment 25 beta Release

had promised another Bodhi Linux ISO featuring Enlightenment for some time now but have been waiting for Rasters Flat elementary theme to be completed and to be fully incorporated into Enlightenment. So today I am happy to announce the release of bodhi-6.1.0-e25_beta.iso. You can find it on my BodhiDev SourceForge page.

This ISO is for users who want or prefer enlightenment or simply wish to 'check it out.' There have always been some Bodhi users who prefer to run 'pure enlightenment' on Bodhi and this release gives them an easy way to do it. This does not mean we are switching to enlightenment and ditching moksha any time soon if ever. Moksha is still our main interest. New Bodhi 6.1 releases featuring Moksha will follow as soon as I can find time to make them.

The iso features a completely unmodified e25.1 with no specific Bodhi customizations, but it does include the old enlightenment theme as well as the new flat one by raster.
No bodhi background or anything, everything is default enlightenment, theme icons and so on. It is fully up to the user to set up and customize however you wish.

The iso also features a new efl version, efl 1.26.1. The python bindings for this are found in the repo and all py-efl apps in the repo can be installed and should work as well as they have been working. Note however I have not tested any of these apps against the new EFL.

The efl apps evisum, ephoto, terminology, rage have been updated and are preinstalled:
  • terminology and rage are the latest releases
  • ephoto is the latest ephoto code in e-git but patched by me to make it work properly with file managers
  • evisum is the development version from e-git

Note:

This is a beta release and nothing has been changed in the ubiquity-slideshow or the quick start. So those still refer to moksha.

There is a collection of enlightenment modules in the repo that can be installed and used.

apt search enlightenment-module*

There is no need to install econnman for networking. This ISO is using network manager. You should add Network to the startup apps and add a system-tray somewhere on your desktop (load the module first). You are free to install connman and use it naturally.

Officially we do not support enlightenment and for support, I recommend using the official enlightenment support channels, either IRC or the enlightenment mailing list. Unofficially we will answer simple questions here or on our Discord channel. Just be aware that most of our user use Moksha and may not know much about the new features of enlightenment. And our developers focus fully on Moksha and other Bodhi projects, we neither know alot about enlightenment as it is now nor do we have the time to debug whatever issues you may find.
