Void base, Gentoo strata

Hello!
I have been trying to add peer guardian linux as application to Void.
Installed Gentoo strata.

For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
Tried to login as Gentoo user from grub "netmount" was not started."
How can I install peer guardian ? Thank you

To be clear, Bedrock is usually the base; that's where it's name comes from. You're most likely running Void and Gentoo on Bedrock.

The small Bedrock community does not have the resources to teach and support every feature of every other distro. For Bedrock as a project to survive, there is an expectation that Bedrock users do learn the fundamentals of the components of other distros they're utilizing. Here, you need to learn about Gentoo masking. Per the message you quoted, consider reading the "MASKED PACKAGES" section of the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo handbook.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. My guess is you mean you're attempting to boot your Bedrock system with Gentoo's init from Bedrock's init selection menu, and that you did not mean to refer to grub or users at all. If so, the message you are referring to is likely

Quote:

ERROR: netmount needs service(s) net
This message is telling you that in order to use the netmount service you need the net service. I think this is the relevant section of Gentoo's documentation to read up on to familiarize yourself with this.

------

While I'm not familiar with it, it looks like Peer Guardian is a daemon that is normally started by the init system. Note that Bedrock cannot make these just-work with inits from different strata. If you want to use Gentoo's PeerGuardian, you'll either need to boot with Gentoo's init (as you might already have figured out?) or figure out how to start it manually if you want to use another init. Attempting to make cross-stratum services just-work is on the roadmap, but may be a while.

Additionally, if you have trouble with Gentoo, PeerGuardian is available from other distros such as Arch Linux which you may find easier.

Finally, note that Peer Guardian does not appear to be actively maintained. Wikipedia lists two websites for it, http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ which redirects to cryptocurrency spam and https://sourceforge.net/projects/peerguardian/ which indicates

Quote:

Not developed actively anymore. Team might still be around. Some unreleased changes on git. Outdated technology.
Given its apparent abandoned state, you may want to consider alternatives.
