AntiX version lifecycle
Hi all,
I was looking for a good distro to run on my 14 year old Dell Dimension, since almost everyone else has dropped 32 bit support or struggled with my Wi-Fi card. antiX was a natural fit, and runs beautifully. I'm having trouble finding this - when do individual versions of antiX hit end of lifetime? How quickly do I have to upgrade from one version to the next? Thanks, and Happy New Year! |
Try 19 latest version. Not sure of your cpu and ram specs though. Versions are based on Debian Stretch and Buster like so
Code:

Oh
What ever you install Code:
sudo apt-get update Then Code:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade |

Hey!
So I installed the latest version, and regardless of the official specs runs well. Installing updates for a specific version is just like updating on Debian, that's been pretty intuitive. I was just wondering when specific versions (i.e. antiX 19) hit EOL so I know how long I have until I will have to upgrade to another version. |
I may be mistaken, however, I think they are supported for as long as the Debian version is supported.

If you look at the forum, under Official Releases, then you see some blurb for example:
antiX-17 “Heather Heyer” Previous current release of antiX. Supported until 2022. Post here for questions, comments, bugs. antiX-16 “Berta Cáceres” Supported until June 6, 2020 release of antiX. Post comments, problems, bugs here. For antiX-19 it will supported up to 2023, probably later. |
Hey anticapitalista - do you mind providing an exact link? I can't find it under the main forum page

So pretty much the lifetime of the underlying Debian release. This was helpful. Thanks!
