The 4MLinux 44 series.
 
This thread is for tracking the development of the 4MLinux 44 series.

4MLinux 44.0 Core BETA released.

This is a core system (only about 15 MB in size) for the 4MLinux 44 series. The system includes: the Linux kernel 6.1.33, GNU C Library 2.37, and BusyBox 1.36.1. The 4MLinux 44 series uses GNU Compiler Collection 13.1.1 to compile programs designed for the x86_64 architecture.

Despite its extremely small size, 4MLinux Core supports both BIOS and UEFI boot modes.

4MLinux 44.0 BETA released.
 
4MLinux 44.0 BETA is ready for testing. Basically, at this stage of development, 4MLinux BETA has the same features as 4MLinux STABLE, but it provides a huge number of updated packages.

Road map:
August 2023 -> BETA
November 2023 -> STABLE
March 2024 -> OLD STABLE
July 2024 -> EOL

Antivirus Live CD is an official 4MLinux fork including the ClamAV scanner. It's designed for users who need a lightweight live CD, which will help them to protect their computers against viruses. The latest version 44.0-1.2.1 is based on 4MLinux 44.0 BETA and ClamAV 1.2.1.

BakAndImgCD 44.0 released.
 
BakAndImgCD is an official 4MLinux fork, which has been designed to perform the following two tasks: data backup and disk imaging. The 4MLinux Backup Scripts make use of FSArchiver, GNU ddrescue, Partclone, rsync, and other utilities. The output files (archives and images) can be optionally compressed and sent to a remote sever (using Ethernet, WiFi, PPP or PPPoE). This release is based on the 4MLinux Backup Scripts 44.0.

TheSSS 44.0 released.
 
This is a major release based on the 4MLinux Server 44.0, meaning that the components of the LAMP server are now: Linux 6.1.60, Apache 2.4.58, MariaDB 10.6.16, and PHP (5.6.40, 7.4.33, and 8.1.25).

You can update your TheSSS by executing the "zk update" command (fully automatic process).

The status of the 4MLinux 44.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 7.6.3 and GNOME Office (AbiWord 3.0.5, GIMP 2.10.34, Gnumeric 1.12.55), surf the Internet with Firefox 119.0.1 and Chrome 119.0.6045.123, send emails via Thunderbird 115.4.2, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 4.3.1, watch your favorite videos with VLC 3.0.20 and SMPlayer 23.6.0, play games powered by Mesa 23.1.4 and Wine 8.19. You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 6.1.60, Apache 2.4.58, MariaDB 10.6.16, PHP 5.6.40, PHP 7.4.33, and PHP 8.1.25). Perl 5.36.0, Python 2.7.18, Python 3.11.4, and Ruby 3.2.2 are also available.

As always, the new major release has some new features. Mesa3D drivers providing system-wide support for Video Acceleration API (VA-API) have been added. QMMP (audio player), Media Player Classic QT (video player), Capitan Sevilla (platform video game) are now available as downloadable extensions. Additionally, the new stable release offers improved support for SPL printing as well as wireless networking.

4MLinux 44.1 STABLE released.
 
This is a minor (point) release in the 4MLinux STABLE channel, which comes with the Linux kernel 6.1.69. The 4MLinux Server now includes Apache 2.4.58, MariaDB 10.6.16, and PHP 8.2.15.
You can update your 4MLinux by executing the "zk update" command in your terminal (fully automatic process).

4MLinux 44 is now OLD STABLE.
 
The status of the 4MLinux 44 series has been changed to OLD STABLE. All users must update before July 2024 (EOL).
