It's running on 512 MB KVM located in the States.
I have no problem to start X and use Firefox on this server via TigerVNC :-)

Just had a quick play in a VM and, while I had an issue trying to set up a partition (it's late so I'm not troubleshooting tonight) it allowed me to start Quake which seems promising. Do the VirtualBox guest additions work?

4MLinux uses the "vanilla" 32-bit version of VirtualBox offered by Oracle, but have a look at /opt/VirtualBox and you'll see that the guest additions ISO has not been included in the 4MLinux package.

Now about your issue with creating/modifying a new partition:
1) create/modify a partition (just ignore warnings),
2) close the partitioning software you are using,
3) execute: 4) run your partitioning software again.
Everything should be fine now. If so, you can say thank you to BusyBox (mdev applet) for fixing this issue for you :-)

Sorry, I meant if I run the guest additions installer in a 4MLinux virtual machine on a Debian host will I get things like full screen and 3D acceleration (such that it is in VirtualBox)?
Thanks for the tip on partitioning -- I'll give it a try next time I fire up the VM.

To be quite honest: I have no idea! The problem is that the way in which I use VirtualBox is the opposite of what you do. VirtualBox emulates old PC for me to test 4MLinux in such an environment. This is how the Legacy Installer (announced in 4MLinux 13.1) has been created. Additionally, I have no experience with Debian (I've never installed it).

AH, OK. I'll give it a try though. My only issue with running 4MLinux in VirtualBox is that, with the live version at least, I can't make it full screen. I'll play though and see.
