Printer Issue (Canon MG2440)

i installed cups and gutenprint (which contains my printer driver type - Canon MG2400 series or Canon PIXMA MG2440 both CUPS+Gutenprint v5.3.4) on both ubuntu and arch and each time I print anything using A4 paper type it always leaves off a bit of the bottom unprinted (about 12.5 mm (+margin its 16 mm)). how can i resolve this.

I took a look at the .ppd file and attempted changing values restart cups but each change I made still resulted in an unprinted bottom,

#1 check if something in the path is setting to LETTER instead of A4. That sounds like about the difference in lengths between those two sizes.

Both Arch and Ubuntu (at least Ubuntu server, haven't run a desktop version in a long time) use /etc/papersize to specify the default paper size. If the file is empty or not there, it defaults to letter. Edit the file and put "a4" (no quotes) in the file and restart cups. Should work then.
