    Lossless discussion revisited

Not quite…your title might be correct, but your post still has a "loseless" in there.

    Heil grammar!

    New laptop!

    Thanks!
And yeah, buying these machines new is very costly for some reason (although you can cut the cost down immensely buying from HP directly with a combination of a few different methods).

    Congratulations!
Those sell for around £2000 new over here, but with only 4 GB RAM.

    My opinions and beliefs.

People over all are too touchy. I run into this all the time with my posts. I post less because of it. I completely agree about the pick apart quote replies. I find it's used by people that don't know how to form a proper response or lead the reader from one topic to the next. Additionally, it's ugly and annoying to all readers involved. Anybody following the thread clearly knows what is being talked about and doesn't need to be reminded of it in every post. Either way, I like using "@ topic" if what I want to reply to is several posts back... much like "@ user" but directed at the topic in general. Besides the most anybody can do is post a nasty response or stop reading your posts. Either way it's a win because the nasty post are either funny or meaningless and if they stop posting replies then it's a win all together.

Just because a troll raised a bait on word libertarian mentioned in your About Me section, you decided to remove it? Do you realize that you've let the troll succeed?

There isn't any pointer arithmetic in Java, but that's becasue it's not needed. And yes, it deos have a garbage collector, so you can completely forget about memory management.

Don't quote me on that, though, as I've never programmed in Java myself.
Basic types in Java are not objects and don't have members.

Failure is the opportunity to try again. and again until it's right. Nobody is going to succeed the first time on everything. Hobbies also help to give a sense of accomplishment... as long as they don't consume normal and healthy life advancement.
I have a friend who is a diabetic and felt the same as you do then started building house furniture for doll houses through a mail order program. He did not make a lot of money at first but was good with his hands and liked what he was doing. He assembles a lot quicker now and makes a modest living and enjoys what he is doing.
This is just an example, you may not be interested, but there may be some hobby you are interested in that you can earn a living from. I had three different major fields of work before I found one that I loved. My only regret was that I did not find out earlier in life.

No, you're too young to claim to be a failure. Wait 'til you're my age.

like, whether it was pre-determined that you would post in Andrew's blog? Okay don't frown now~ that was a teaser for you

Come out of that determinism phase, please, it should be none of our business whether it is all predetermined or not .... we as a human have got ONLY ONE life, don't waste it on such meaningless thoughts...but you are not going to listen, I know

Hate to hijack the comment thread here, but I just thought I'd chime in...just saying everyone's different is all, and that the above issue happens to describe me. (though I'm sure you knew that already )

Hrmm I always heard that listing the things you feel positive about is more productive... sort of like the whole fake smile actually makes you happier because the muscle memory of a smile triggers positive emotions.

Also like I said, even in failure there is something to be gained. All situations in life leave an imprint of understanding that we can apply to other seemingly unrelated situations and often in ways we don't realize.

Actually, if you list out the major setbacks then perhaps people here might be able to tell you "did you really fail or are just under an illusion", "what you could have done to avoid that so called failure", "Was it really that big", etc. I won't force you on posting here any further now. Good luck.

    Depression

Hello lumak and Anisha, thanks for your concern.

Anisha is partially right; discussing it helps me feel better in some capacity. Although, going off on a tangent that lists all the things I have felt like I failed at would honestly depress me more. Suffice to say I have literally failed at several, relatively major things in life in general. It just really demotivates me to the point where I just feel like I am worthless, and that depresses me.

Failure is not an opportunity to try again, when the opportunity to try again is not possible. Then it's just failure. Kinda like the old joke; "If it at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you."

I don't think it is irrelevant, he has posted here (publicly) because he wants people to listen and discuss things with him (w.r.t his depression problem) (AFAIT). Listening to and discussing the reasons/causes lighten the load of mind and that's the reason people need friends.

    Depression

The question is irrelevant to somebody who is depressed when everything feels like it has failed. The object is to see the useful things from situations. Learning from mistakes, realizing some things aren't your fault, obtaining understanding of a situation, etc.
